Ceramics

On Wednesday we painted our Ceramics. I was really impressed with how well the girls painted. They are getting better and better each time we paint. I wanted to especially thank Brianna for staying longer and making sure all the Paint brushes and Paints were cleaned up and put away. THANKS BRIANNA! YOU ROCK!

Archery

Savannah, Mariah, Brianna and Kellsie are signed up for the Archery this Tuesday.

I just got an email confirmation letting us know we need to be there 15 min earlier than planned.

We will be leaving my house at 4:15pm (no latter) if you need to drop them off at 4pm just to make sure, that if fine! It will be over with at 6:30 and I will bring them home (to your house). They all live so close it is just faster. Thanks, Katie

Balloon Fiesta 08

Here we are at the Balloon Fiesta, Again! The girls really love going here and we have a lot of fun.

Here they are with the Balloon Piolet (from Laurel's work).

Does anyone see what Ms. Laurel is doing in the back ground? Is it a "looser" sign? Is she following Jakob?

The Piolet is from Flagstaff, AZ. And it is his tradition to lay pine needles and pine cones out before he blows up the balloon. He let the girls put all the needels out.

More Balloon Fiesta

Here are more pictures of the Girls at the Balloon Fiesta! The first one is of the girls who were at Laurel's tent.
Here they are as the sun is coming up.
Here is Mariah and Allyson as they are filling up the balloon. This is the inside of the balloon. Pretty cool!

The guy who flies the balloon let the girls (and me) go under the balloon and see what it was like. What a blast. This might have been my highlight of the day. I hope the girls liked it.

Your Girls ROCK!

Last thurday was the Smores and Songs recruiting event. Mariah, Savannah, Kellsie, Jessica, Dianna and Sophia and Brianna came. While Laurel worked on paperwork and convincing moms to be leaders, I worked on the fire and did songs with the girls.

As you know Songs are not my strength, but with the help of your daughters we rocked the house! We sang a ton of songs and helped the new girls sing them as well. I was really proud of how your daughters acted. They showed real leadership as they helped the girls learn new songs and actions to the songs.

They did a great job.!
I am impressed with how they are growing up.
Good work moms!

Change of Plans

This wed's troop meeting was going to be at my house and the girls were going to cook. But we are earning the same badge when we go to council and cook the chinese food, so we are moving things around.

This wed we will meet at the school and work on the career badge. We were going to do this in January, but we moved it up. The date in January that was the career badge will now be the day we work on our World Thinking Day projects.

For this wed I do need some news papers (the want adds and the comics). If you have some newspapers (they can be old) let me know. I don't have any.

I have emailed everyone and made the changes on the Troop Calendar. If you have any questions, please email me or call me.

This wed we are working on our Theater badge. Some of the Girls will not be able to attend because they have their open house stuff. Please do not worry about not making the meeting. Since there are a lot of you, we can meet at my house at another time and work on the badge. I don't know a date yet, but we will pick one soon.

Council Activities

Below is the list of the council activities that we are attending or want you to know about for your family. These are not required. You can do none or all or some. You can pay for them out of your cookie dough. I do not know what you have left, but if you call council, they will be able to tell you. Send me an email on what you want to do and how you want to pay (check or cookie dough).

If you already signed up on wed, then no need to email me again, but please tell me how you want to pay for the activities. I want to go to council soon, before they fill up.

Also, if you will be using cookie dough for any of the acitivities. I will need a letter from you stating that you want the cookie dough to be used for the following activities. You need to put your name, your daughters name and signature. If you have the ability to email that to me, great. If not we can get together at a latter time.

Nachos and a Movie

Pictures to come...

We went up to Council for a Service Unit Early Bird Event. We had Nachos and watched Troop Beverly Hills. The girls really liked the movie. They were talking about their favorite parts of the movie on the way home.

The Nachos were perfect! Thanks to Laurel's husband's work who donated all the nacho stuff. YOU ROCK JIMMY!

We were suppose to do the remainder of our swimming badge this Saturday, but it has been cancelled. At the first meeting in Sept, we will pick a date that works for the majority. Sorry for the confusion.

Reminder

We have our Early Bird Event this Friday from 6pm to 8pm at Council. Please meet at my house (Katie) at 5:15pm, so Summer and myself can take the girls up to council. Our service Unit is in charge of this event, so Laurel is going right up to council after work to set up.

Remember 5:45pm. Don't be late!

We will call when we are leaving Council, so you know what time to pick up your girls from my house. It will be about 8:30ish.

Sumber Party/Planning Meeting

For our Slumber Party/ Planning meeting we met at my house and for an hour planned the whole year. I am really impressed at the badges the girls wanted to do. Some of them were way above the age level, so we will do them next year. See the calendar for all the badges.

After the planning part of the night, the girls started working on the blankets for the VA hospital and a couple for the Preemie unit of UNM. I am really proud of their ability. They did a great job and finished 5 blankets!

Then they started making Puffles (those mom's who's daughters were there, understand my pain). Kellsie taught them how to take Yarn and wrap it around their fingers. Then they cut the loops and there is a yarn fur ball(I am still finding yarn everywhere in my house).

Diana and Sophia

We are really excited that Diana and Sophia are back in our troop. They came to our first activity of the year at the River and the girls had a blast!

Rio Grande River Trip

Talk about muddy! We went to the River last night to start working on our Water is Fun badge. We were suppose too look for animals that lived around a water source. float a leave in the water and talk about currents. Talk about conserving water. Look and Listen to the surroundings. Boy did that not happen!

We walked to a little inlet (see picture below) and at first the girl could just stand at the edge and look, because we didn't plan on going in the water. Look how things change! My favorite pictures is the last one, where all the muddy, gross girls were hugging Laurel. That might have to be a new screen savor. I know the girls had fun, because they were laughing and playing the whole time!

Activity Flyers

When we get a flyer for an upcoming event, we will add it to the right where it says events. So far there is the Service Unit Early Bird event. Our troop is going as a troop, so check out the info. Laurel will be at council, so I will be leaving from my house to take the girls up there. I will need one more mom to help me drive the girls up there. Anyone want to come and watch Troop Beverly Hills and eat nachos? I will be leaving at 5:15pm from my house for this event.

There is also a recruiting event flyer. This is for our service unit. If you want to attend you will be taking your own daughter, this is not a troop event. If you bring your daughter and a friend to sign up (the friends parent needs to be there as well) , then she will get a patch. This is a free event. We will be putting together new troops that night.

Any questions? I hope this works for you guys. Anything to keep the info simple.
